Addressing the event, Politburo member and Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan spoke highly of the encouraging results gained from the movement, which took place between March 8 and September 23 amidst the complicated developments of COVID-19 pandemic.
Accordingly, the city has attained positive economic growth and significant progress in protecting the environment, building a smart city, controlling tidal floods and implementing compensation for land clearances.
He stressed that the emulation movement has not only contributed to maintaining the city’s growth but also attracted the enthusiastic participation of the city’s dwellers and helped to consolidate people’s trust in the political system.
The spirit of emulation must be raised among every public servant and citizen with detailed planning and thorough inspection and review after each stage of the movement, he emphasised.
At the event, the municipal People’s Committee presented certificates of merit to 56 collectives and eight individuals in recognition of their excellent performances during the 200-day emulation movement.
The 2021 Ho Chi Minh City Creative Awards was also launched on the occasion to honoured outstanding works and projects that have contributed to the city’s development over the past two years across seven categories, including economics, defence - security, State management, communication, culture and art, science and technology, and creative startups.
