This information was announced on May 15 at a press conference held by Suc Khoe va Doi Song (Health and Life) Newspaper and the Drug Administration Of Vietnam (the Ministry of Health).
Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen, said that in response to the "Vietnamese people prioritise using Vietnamese products" campaign launched by the Politburo, on September 5, 2014, the Ministry of Health issued Decision No. 3441 /QD-BYT on the Plan to implement the "Vietnamese people prioritise using Vietnamese medicines" project, including implementing the activity of honouring the outstanding medicinal businesses and medicinal products.
Businesses and drugs participating in voting for the title "Vietnamese Drug Star" must meet the strict requirements and criteria set by the Organizing Committee. They are evaluated based on four main groups of criteria: quality, innovation and creativity, production and business capacity, plus priority points.
Associate Professor Dr. Le Van Truyen, Chairman of the voting council, assessed businesses participating in the voting were very focused on product quality, innovation and creativity investment and the research process, new product development, production, business, and drug supply capacity to the market.
From 46 businesses and 239 medicinal products that applied to participate, the Voting Council selected 18 businesses and 68 medicinal products to be awarded the title "Vietnamese Drug Star".
