Drug control at sea ports
VTV.vn - Vietnam is currently at risk of being both a drug transshipment area and seeing an increase in drug consumption. About 80% of drugs shipped into Vietnam are then transported to third countries.

Drug crime activities are becoming complicated in the southern provinces including Ho Chi Minh City, with increasing quantities of drugs found. The seaways are one of the pathways for drug transport because ships allow huge quantities to be transported.

The new situation requires border guards, police, and customs to coordinate and monitor the border to detect drugs as soon as they are brought into Vietnam through roads and seaports. This role includes customs forces at seaports.
