In 2018, there have been thirteen storms and fourteen flash floods and landslides which caused property losses of 856 million US dollars, and 218 people gone missing or deceased. One of the most notable incidents is the landslide in Nha Trang City in November. The numbers show that the infrastructure is not capable of preventing disasters. There has not been a national fund for this work. Technological applications in forecasting disasters still need improvement. To do a better job in 2019, the committee will propose to the government and the National Assembly the relocation of residents living in areas prone to disasters
