The gifts were offered to policy beneficiary households, poor people, victims of Agent Orange and disadvantaged workers.
It was part of a programme held jointly by the Vietnamese Fatherland Front, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, the Red Cross Society of Vietnam and the Yen Bai provincial authorities.
According to reports, Yen Bai have allocated a total of VND17 billion (over US$733,000) towards catering for the lives of poor households and policy beneficiaries during the Lunar New Year 2020.
200 tonnes of quality rice have been delivered to nearly 7,000 local households so that none will suffer from hunger.
Speaking at the gift-presenting ceremony, Deputy PM Hue extended his New Year greetings to all the people and officials of Yen Bai Province and wished them a happy Tet with their families.
At the ceremony, Hue presented gifts to 300 households in Yen Binh District. On the occasion, Vietcombank also donated VND3 billion (US$129,000) to the district towards building schools.
