Explanation and Guidance Instead of Simple Reporting
As a new educational and current affairs program on VTV2, Deep Understanding – Quality Living was created to become a platform where society’s pressing issues are examined in depth. Broadcast regularly at 8:30 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday, each 30-minute episode focuses intensively on a single topic to ensure depth and clarity in addressing the given issue. This is where viewers can encounter real-life stories, scientific perspectives, and comprehensive explanations for relevant social issues.
Journalist Luu Ngoc Anh, Head of the Special Features - Education department's Social Knowledge Division, shared that the highlight of Deep Understanding – Quality Living lies in its explanatory and guiding approach rather than simply reporting or reflecting. Each episode not only provides an overview but also dives deep into complex aspects, helping audiences understand the causes, nature, and consequences of events. The program aims to be serious current affairs media that is close, sharp, and unafraid to take on the most challenging and urgent questions of public life.

"The program is thematic and closely tied to society’s pressing issues, aiming to provide viewers with accurate, multidimensional information. From that, audiences can apply the knowledge in their daily lives".
— Journalist Trinh Quoc Dong, Deputy Head of the Special Features – Education Department, Vietnam Television
Despite covering a wide range of topics: from education and healthcare to economics to public policy and social media phenomena,... the program remains committed to scientific, analytical, and humanistic standards. The chosen themes always address public concerns, such as unemployment at age 40, hospital fee exemptions, admissions reforms, functional foods, counterfeit products, and the influence of key opinion leaders (KOLs) on modern society.
Editor Anh Ninh, a member of the production team, emphasized that the core focus remains the story within each episode. Therefore, the team often seeks out stories that resonate strongly with the audience.
Structured, In-Depth, and Impactful
Each broadcast follows a clear three-part structure: Information – Talk (main discussion) – Message.
The first part, “Information”, lasts five minutes and weaves news and short reports together into a logical communication narrative. This introduction attracts attention and raises issues from a fresh and profound perspective. Rather than using the traditional “5W1H” method, the program actively poses significant questions for viewers to contemplate. For instance, when discussing hospital fee exemptions, the program analyzes how citizens benefit not just mentioning beneficiaries or budget costs, but analyzes how citizens benefit. What is the implementation roadmap? Where will the resources come from? Is it feasible? These questions reflect the program’s bold, sharp, and fearless approach to challenging the audience’s thinking.

The second part is a 15–20 minute in-depth conversation, set in realistic contexts to create a natural space that encourages guests to share openly. Participants include reputable experts, people with profound knowledge, or those with direct experience related to the topic. A friendly environment, combined with props and experimental situations, makes the discussion lively, persuasive, and relatable.
Journalist Trinh Quoc Dong stated: “We always consult leading experts in a given field. Not just one, but multiple experts with different perspectives to provide the audience with a comprehensive view of an issue, ensuring the information they receive is accurate.”
The program features participation from reputable experts.
Short reports interwoven into the discussion address specific points, allowing viewers not only to hear the analysis but also to see real-life illustrations. This approach makes the program scientific, dramatic, and emotionally engaging, while building trust and social consensus.
The third part, “Message”, is a concise and impactful 5-minute conclusion that summarizes the episode with profound highlights and extends towards solutions that are humanistic and inspiring. Beyond words, this section may include special outdoor reports or success stories from within the country or abroad. These stories broaden perspectives, link to upcoming broadcasts, and nurture long-term discourse.
Journalist Trinh Quoc Dong added, “At the end of each program, we usually provide a message that audiences can apply to their lives. We carefully consider how to present the message so that it does not feel dry or dogmatic. Rather than offering a single solution, we explore multiple approaches from different angles, so that viewer can choose the option that best suits their situation.”
One of the program’s attractions is its creative combination of virtual studios, real-life locations, and experiential graphic materials.
Alongside television broadcasts, Deep Understanding – Quality Living has been expanded into a robust digital content ecosystem across social platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube. Here, the program not only shares impactful highlights to spread information but also establishes forums for discussion, encouraging viewers to interact, ask questions, and share opinions. In doing so, it increases reach, engagement, and influence across both digital and television platforms. On TikTok, teaser clips are released ahead of airtime to generate interest. Meanwhile, YouTube serves as an archive of full episodes, providing long-term value and helping viewers conveniently revisit past topics.
Deep Understanding – Quality Living is about more than just reflecting; it's also about leading, analyzing, and explaining; not only warning, and opening new directions. The production team hopes the program will become a trusted platformthrough which the public can correctly recognize, fully understand, and effectively address the issues of the times.
The program Deep Understanding – Quality Living is broadcast at 8:30 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday on VTV2, starting from July 1, 2025.
