VTV.vn - Dak Nong province held a ceremony on December 20 to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the N'Trang Long uprising (1912-2022) and inaugurate the monument dedicated to the national hero N'Trang Long.

The N'Trang Long uprising (1912 - 1936) was a spontaneous struggle against the French colonialists’ invasion of ethnic groups in the South Central Highlands, led by N'Trang Long.

The uprising boasted the widest scope and the most drastic degree in the Central Highlands since the French colonialists invaded our country. Despite its failure, the uprising had profound historical significance for the Vietnamese people’s struggle for national liberation and unification.

At the ceremony, Secretary of the Dak Nong Provincial Party Committee Ngo Thanh Danh said, that the monument dedicated to the national hero N'Trang Long is a symbol of the will and spirit of the people of the Central Highlands. This will be a place to educate patriotism, national pride and the indomitable traditions of the people of the Central Highlands.

The project is also a symbol to promote the cultural identity of the ethnic groups on the M'Nong plateau, contributing to introducing the potential of the South Central Highlands to friends at home and abroad.

The monument of national hero N'Trang Long is 18.5m high and 27m long, with a total weight of more than 450 tonnes and located on Dak Nur hill, in the centre of Gia Nghia city, Dak Nong province. The project has a total investment of nearly 78 billion VND, including nearly 60 billion VND from the state budget and the remaining amount from other sources.
