For photographers, Da Nang offers no shortage of subjects, from its coastline and landscapes to its heritage and the rhythms of everyday life. Now, a new photography contest is bringing all of them under one brief. The Global Eyes on Da Nang contest was launched at APEC Park on Thursday, September 10. Organised by the Da Nang People’s Committee, it is open to Vietnamese and international participants, both professional and amateur. Entries can cover landscapes and heritage, city life, cultural exchange, and Da Nang’s development.
Duong Phu Tam, Vice Chairman of the Danang Photography Association/Organising Committee Member, said: "The city has created an international platform for photographers from Vietnam and abroad, including Da Nang residents and people who love the city. And this contest can give photographers a more comprehensive view of Da Nang, its people, culture, and natural landscapes. Since the merger, the city has become much larger, with enormous potential.
Selected photographs will also contribute to a visual archive for the city’s international promotion and communications. Outstanding works will be exhibited and considered for inclusion in a city photo book, Da Nang - Telling the World. The competition will be open until the end of November.
From people who call Da Nang home to those seeing it for the first time, every photographer brings a different perspective. The contest is about putting those perspectives together to create a picture of Da Nang that no single photographer could capture alone.
