VTV.vn - The eighth Da Lat Flower Festival 2019 officially opened with a brilliant ceremony held at the Lam Vien Square in the Central Highland province of Lam Dong’s city.

The event was attended by Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy PM Binh congratulated the achievements in regards to socio-economic and cultural development that Da Lat city has witnessed over the past years.

After over 125 years since its establishment, development and integration, Da Lat has a new face, becoming an ideal destination in the tourism map of Vietnam and the world, he added.

The Deputy PM emphasised that the Da Lat Flower Festival has been recognised as a notable cultural and tourism event of the poetic highland city, promoting the development of agriculture and tourism, particularly in the production and business of flowers, agricultural products and silk in the South Central Highland region.

He expressed his belief that the Lam Dong provincial Party committee, authorities and people would continue to uphold the solidarity, to more effectively tap into the unearthed potential and strengths of the locality, which in turn will help develop the province and Da Lat and Bao Loc cities particularly.

Following the unique art performances, a flower parade and firework display closed the opening ceremony.

Themed “Da Lat and Flower”, the 2019 Da Lat Flower Festival will last unitl December 24, consisting of 11 main programmes and dozens of response activities.
