Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue attended the event and beat the drum to open the festival.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Chairman of Nghe An provincial People’s Committee, Thai Thanh Quy, said that Nghe An has become one of the important highlights of the central region’s tourism.
Cua Lo Beach is a dynamic and crowded urban area with modern infrastructure hosting over 300 hotels and hostels, consisting of more than 11,000 rooms to serve over 25,000 visitors per day.
On the opening night, an art programme, titled ‘Cua Lo – 25 years of convergence and shine’, and a beautiful firework display attracted a large number of visitors.
The festival will also feature a wide range of cultural, sports and tourism activities.
Cua Lo town has set the target of welcoming over 3.1 million tourists during its peak season in 2019, a year-on-year increase of 12.6%, and earning nearly VND3.45 billion, up 21% over the same period last year.
