The event drew the participation of Party leaders and citizens. The “Nghe Tinh uprising” was a series of uprisings, strikes, and demonstrations by Vietnamese peasants, workers, and intellectuals against the colonial French regime, the mandarinate, and Vietnamese landlords, from 1930 to 1931. “Nghe-Tinh” is a compound word representing the two present-day provinces of Nghe An and Hà Tinh in central Vietnam, the main areas where the revolt took place.
