COVID-19: Vietnam sees no fresh coronavirus cases over 12 hours

VTV.vn - The country has no new COVID- cases to report over the last 12 hours, keeping the national tally at 1,054, the Ministry of Health announced on September 9 morning.

Of the registered patients, 691 are community acquired cases, with 551 related to the outbreak in the central city of Da Nang since the resurgence of the virus in late July.

The total figure for imported cases has rose to 363 after a further five cases returning from abroad were detected on September 8.

One day earlier, 14 patients were given the all clear, raising the total recoveries to 868, while the number of deaths remain at 35, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying health issues.

Among the positive patients in treatment, 13 have tested negative for the novel coronavirus once, 21 twice, and 24 three times.

There are more than 37,470 people in quarantine nationwide after they came into close contact with confirmed COVID-19 cases or who have recently returned from pandemic-hit areas.

In Da Nang, the epicentre of the 2nd COVID-19 wave has gone 13 days with no new cases recorded in the community.

Meanwhile, according to the Center for Disease Control in Ho Chi Minh City, in order to control the risk of COVID-19 local infection, all people who left the central city of Da Nang city from September 5 for Ho Chi Minh City need to have their samples taken for testing. Each person will have a sample taken once.

Sampling will be conducted at airports for those traveling by plane from September 8. For those who come to Ho Chi Minh City by other means must carry out medical declarations at locations notified by local medical centres
