VTV.vn - The Ministry of Health on May 6 morning reported no new COVID-19 infections in the community for 20 straight days.

Among the total registered cases, 131 are imported ones and were put into isolation upon their arrival in Vietnam.

Earlier on May 5, 11 patients at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases No 2 in Dong Anh district of Hanoi were declared to have fully recovered from the deadly virus.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry said about 1,330 highly skilled oil industry experts will be kept in quarantine in the days to come as they enter the country. According to Deputy Health Minister Do Xuan Tuyen, the ministry’s aim is to monitor and immediately place foreign experts into isolation upon entry to prevent the disease from spreading to the wider community while ensuring economic benefits.

Elsewhere, the Ho Chi Minh City Health Department has decided to extend quarantine duration for cured COVID-19 patients as from May 5.

The decision was made after some patients’ test results return positive again for the SARS-CoV-2 after being declared to have fully recovered from the virus.

So far, a total of 232 patients have been released from hospital, and the remaining cases are receiving treatment at central and provincial-level healthcare establishments throughout the nation.

According to a report updated by the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, 34,097 people who have close contact with confirmed patients or returned from other countries are currently in quarantine at hospitals, other quarantine facilities, at home or at places of residence.

Of the 39 patients still under treatment, 12 have tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 once and 9 negative at least twice.
