According to Dr. Nguyen Minh Tien, deputy director of the Ho Chi Minh City Children’s Hospital, the pair’s vital organs have remained in a completely stable condition up until now. Despite this, the two children are in pain, leading to doctors administering pain relief methods and respiratory support measures in order to ease the pain for the babies.
Although the operation can be considered a success, Dr. Tien believed that the twins must be closely monitored and given special care in an effort to prevent ulcers forming or infection.
Dr. Tien noted that doctors will provide the twins with physical therapy at the hospital to ensure their motor functions are maintained, as well as improving their breathing. In addition, there has also been a focus placed on making sure the pair avoid infection.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Acting Minister of Heath Nguyen Thanh Long sent a special congratulatory message to the team of doctors on the evening of July 15 after they carried out the surgery. They also extended their best wishes to the baby sisters.
