VTV.vn - Chelsea completed a torrid few days for Liverpool as goals by Willian and Ross Barkley sealed a 2-0 victory to send them through to the FA Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday.

* Joshua Kimmich edged Bayern Munich into the German Cup semi-finals with the only goal in a 1-0 win at Schalke 04 on Tuesday (Mar 3). Bayern sit top of the Bundesliga and are also set for a place in the Champions League quarters having beaten Chelsea 3-0 in the first leg of their last-16 tie.

* The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) has said it hopes to forge ahead with the remainder of the 2020 world tour despite widespread concerns over the coronavirus outbreak that has seen a host of sports events cancelled or postponed around the globe.

* The International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Tuesday gave further unequivocal backing to this summer's Tokyo Olympics, urging athletes to prepare "full steam" despite the coronavirus threat.

* UEFA has set up a working group with the European Leagues association to handle any fixture congestion which may be caused by coronavirus postponements. UEFA general secretary Theodore Theodoridis told UEFA's congress on Tuesday that the body had been set up on Monday to "work on calendar issues".

* Crowds will be smaller and receptions have been scrapped at the Tokyo 2020 torch lighting ceremony in ancient Olympia, Greece next week as the Hellenic Olympic Committee (HOC) introduced measures to protect against the coronavirus, it said on Tuesday. The torch lighting in Olympia will be held at the site of the ancient Olympic Games on March 12.

* Johor Darul Ta'zim's Brazilian defender Mauricio headed a 73rd-minute winner as the Malaysian champions beat the Republic of Korea’s Suwon Bluewings 2-1 in the Asian Champions League group stage on Tuesday. Yet Mauricio's close-range header earned JDT their first win in the 2020 campaign which left them three points behind Japan's Vissel Kobe in second place in Group G after two games.

* Nicolas Portal, the sports director of British cycling outfit Team Ineos, died suddenly at his home in Andorra aged 40, his team said on Tuesday (Mar 3). Portal took part in the Tour de France six times as a rider and retired in 2010 after diagnosis of an irregular heartbeat. After becoming Team Sky sports director in 2013 he helped guide Chris Froome to his first Tour de France win, and was still in the job with Ineos at the time of his death.

* Online sports platform DAZN is to embark on an aggressive expansion that will see it become the world's first global live sports streaming service. The London-based platform is already available in nine countries, where it shows boxing and a lineup of other sports. But it is to launch in the spring in more than 200 territories where it will concentrate solely on boxing, according to a statement published on Monday.
