VTV.vn - Thua Thien – Hue Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee and the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee organised a ceremony in Hue city, on October 2, to mark the 100th birthday anniversary of poet To Huu.

The event was attended by Politburo member, Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Communications and Education Vo Van Thuong; PCC Secretary, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the PCC's Theoretical Council Nguyen Xuan Thang; leaders of ministries, central agencies, Thua Thien - Hue province and representatives of poet To Huu's family.

Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Le Truong Luu emphasized that the 100th anniversary of To Huu's birthday is also a time when the Party, people, army and the entire country are actively preparing for the 16th Provincial Party Congress, towards the 13th National Party Congress. Promoting this glorious revolutionary tradition, the Party Committee, authorities and people of Thua Thien - Hue province will unite to overcome all difficulties, raise their high sense of self-reliance to build Thua Thien - Hue into an ncreasingly rich and beautiful province, soon becoming a city directly under the Central Government in the spirit of Resolution 54-NQ / TW of the Ministry Politic.

Poet To Huu, birth name Nguyen Kim Thanh and an alias of Lanh, was born on October 4, 1920 in a family with a revolutionary tradition in Quang Tho commune, Quang Dien district, Thua Thien Hue province. He was a great poet who inspired as well as led Vietnamese revolutionary literature. In To Huu, there is harmony between the revolutionary and the poetic. To Huu’s poems are still modern, conveying the great feelings of the Vietnamese people in the development and history of Viet Nam’s Party and Nation.

He was also an active politician, an elite leader of Viet Nam’s Communist Party at the front of ideology and culture with great contributions to the revolutionary war for national construction and development. He also took important positions in Viet Nam’s political system. He was awarded the Gold Star medal, the 60-year Communist Party Membership Badge and the Ho Chi Minh Award for Literature and Arts.
