Cao Bang is the second spot in Vietnam made it in UNESCO's Global Geoparks list. Located in the northern and eastern districts of Cao Bang Province in Northeast Viet Nam, Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark covers a total area of 3,000 square kilometres.
Mountainous landforms cover approximately 90% of the land area, with a highland tropical monsoon climate and distinct wet and dry seasons, the aspiring geopark exhibits a rich biodiversity. UNESCO recommends that recognised Global Geoparks build a sustainable development model for these parks to retain unique features of the land. Eight years ago, Dong Van Karst Plateau was also named a World Geopark by UNESCO.
