At the event, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam said drugs were a threat to international and regional security and stability, and community cohesion. The three countries pledged to work towards a Drug-Free ASEAN after 2015, despite the international trends towards legalized drug use. They also agreed to prioritize the prevention of drugs trade and trafficking through borders and improving local awareness of safeguarding security in border areas.
