California overcomes the consequences of wildfires

It is estimated that in just the past two weeks, forest fires have burned 40,000 hectares in California. Other wildfires have now weakened, while evacuated residents have started returning to their homes. Drier conditions have been causing the fires to intensify.

To reduce the risk of wildfires, electric utility Pacific Gas & Electric has cut off electricity to millions of its customers in Northern and Central California.
