The event took place from 9-11 July and attracted a lot of tourists to Can Tho city thanks to 16 major activities. Of them, the parade of more than 40 boats from Ninh Kiều Wharf to the floating market area was considered the most impressive.
The festival also included bicycle races, boat races, and flower boat displays. Each day more than 500 servings of free fruit and cakes were given to visitors to Cái Răng Floating Market.
The festival also promoted local specialties and opened up opportunities for tourism cooperation between Can Tho and businesses in other localities.
The Cai Rang Floating Market, located about 6km from the centre of Can Tho city, has been up and running for centuries. It is a prime example of the waterway market culture in the southwestern region, where people buy and sell goods on boats.
