Ca Mau’s two local specialties recognized as intangible cultural heritages

VTV.vn - Gác kèo ong or open hives used to lure wild bees in U Minh Hạ Forest, and muối ba khía, a salted paste made of ba khía, a type of mangrove crab, have been recognized as national intangible cultural heritages.

This information was just released by the Ca Mau People’s Committee. The beekeeping profession has been developing in U Minh Ha, Ca Mau province.

The product "U Minh Ha honey" has been recognized by the National Office of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Science and Technology and is well-known nationwide.

The recognition of these two intangible cultural heritages contributes to affirming the rich cultural values of Ca Mau province for tourism development.

At present, Ca Mau province is preparing a dossier to submit to the Ministry of Culture and Sports and Tourism to put the Nghinh Ong - Song Doc festival, the Hung King festival and the traditional profession of dried shrimp making onto the list of intangible cultural heritage on a national level.
