On January 10th, fans around the world said a farewell to music icon David Bowie. Bowie died at the age of 69 after 18 months battling with cancer. According to Max Lousada – chairman of BRITs Committee – this will be an appropriate occasion to honor David Bowie’s contribution to the world’s music industry.
Mr Lousada said: "David Bowie was one of the most important and influential songwriters and performers ever and, like so many fans around the world, we're devastated to hear of his loss.”
"A visionary and ground-breaking pioneer, he has inspired generations of musicians and will continue to shape music for many years to come.” – he added.
"Naturally, we wish to honor his extraordinary life and work at the forthcoming Brit Awards and pay a fitting tribute to one of our greatest icons. " – Lousada closed his speech.
David Bowie won Best Male in 2014 Brit Awards for the last time.
2016 Brit Awards takes place at O2 Arena in London on February 24th (local time)
