He said attracting private investment in transport infrastructure development, especially in the context of the inadequacy of public funding, is the correct right policy to adopt by the Party and state and an essential one.
Generally, this policy has been implemented well, he said. But he also stressed the need to deal with recent shortcomings like the period of toll collection, toll rates, toll waiver for people living in the project area and, especially, the elimination of unreasonable costs at BOT projects.
According to the Prime Minister, the Government has ordered strict action against violations to ensure security and order at BOT toll booths. He added that it is necessary to communicate well so that the public understands and supports the policy.
At the meeting, he agreed with a proposal for non-stop automatic fee collection by the Ministry of Transport and said the road map for this proposal would soon be released. He emphasised the need for transparency in BOT projects, saying in fact it should be the backbone of the policy.
