Book week commemorates 80th founding anniversary of Vietnam People’s Army

Running from December 15 to December 22, the event features 20 book introduction programs along with various music performances themed after the Vietnam People's Army.

An exhibition showcasing 343 documents, images, and publications praising the heroic Vietnamese army and armed forces in Ho Chi Minh City has also been organised as part of the event.

Visitors to the event can attend a seminar introducing a book titled ‘Notable Battles of Ho Chi Minh City Armed Forces (1945-1989)’ and join discussions with historical witnesses.

Speaking at the opening ceremony on December 15, Nguyen Ngoc Hoi, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications, said that the book week aims to widely disseminate the glorious history and heroic traditions of the Vietnam People's Army over its 80 years of establishment and development as well as its significant contributions to national defence.

It also seeks to inspire a sense of pride and responsibility among participants, especially those of younger generations, thus encouraging their contributions to national construction and protection.
