Binh Thuan aims to become leading tourist destination
VTV.vn - After almost two decades of focusing on the tourism industry, the south-central coastal province of Binh Thuan has grown to become one of the top resort destinations in Vietnam, attracting millions of visitors.

Over 400 investment projects have been implemented, with a focus on accommodation, travel, sport services and restaurants.

Lying on the  East Sea, Binh Thuan has many advantages thanks to its coastal location. The number of visitors to Binh Thuan has increased annually. In 2014, 3.7 million tourists came to the province, bringing 264 million USD in revenue.  In 2015, tourism revenue rose to 330 million USD with at least 4.5 million visitors including 500,000 international travellers. This would have been impossible without local government efforts to make the most of its unspoilt environment.

"Binh Thuan has beautiful unspoilt beaches. Therefore, we really believe that developing golf courses, eco-tourism, and beach sports is appropriate here. Many countries have developed them quite successfully, so why don’t we try?" - Pham Cao Phuc, General Director, Canh Vien Golf JSC., Ho Chi Minh City.

The area around Phan Thiet and Mui Ne is renowned for its unspoilt landscapes and pristine beaches. The provincial authorities have also offered preferential policies to attract investors to the area.

"Our goal is to enhance our strengths and use all our resources to develop the province’s economy. One of the tasks is providing support to investors working on our 22 coastal projects." - Van Quy Ngoc, Ham Tan District People's Committee, Binh Thuan Province.

To develop tourism more effectively, BinhThuan has encouraged the merger of smaller projects, while attracting major developers so that there can be more efficient development. The province wants to focus on its advantages offered by its popular coastline to develop its tourism products and brands associated with international events.

"Tourism is considered a key industry. We plan to turn Mui Ne into a major tourist destination. We’ll also focus on developing beach sports training and competition centres to turn Binh Thuan into the national and international centre for beach sports tourism. Investment is one of the key factors to our success." - Ngo Minh Chinh, Director, Binh Thuan Department of Culture, Sports, Tourism.

Global integration means more rigorous competition in the tourism industry. To cope with this issue, the province aims to diversify their tourism products. However, their final goal is always becoming a safe, friendly, and quality destination so that they can attract more domestic and international tourists.
