VTV.vn - The CME-Vista joint venture has officially announced the implementation of a project to install a rooftop solar energy system at the Estec Vina factory in southern Binh Duong province, with a capacity of 2.086 MWh of electricity per year.

In an interview with Nhan Dan Newspaper, a CME-Vista representative said that this is the first renewable energy project to install infrastructure at the Estec Vina factory - a subsidiary of the Korean Estec Group, headquartered in Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park I (VSIP I) in Binh Duong.

The rooftop solar project at Estec Vina, developed by the CME-Vista joint venture, is expected to generate 2.086 MWh of electricity annually.

Based on Vietnam’s certified CO2 emission factor of 0.6766, this project is anticipated to reduce approximately 1.411 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.

According to an Estec Vina representative, as a leading manufacturer in the consumer electronics sector, with an annual production capacity of 60 million products, serving both domestic and international markets, the company considers transitioning to renewable energy, particularly rooftop solar, the fastest and most effective solution to enhance its competitiveness in exporting products to Europe, Japan, the US, India, and other key markets.

According to McKinsey estimates, by 2030, carbon tax risks for export-oriented industries in Vietnam could reach US$10-30 billion. Transitioning to green energy production would help Vietnam maintain its export competitiveness and drive deeper emissions reductions.

At COP26, Vietnam committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and reducing methane emissions by 30% by 2030.

Chung Dieu Tuan, CEO of CME Solar and CME-Vista joint venture, stated that with Vietnam's net-zero commitment, businesses must transition to renewable energy.

In August 2024, CME Solar and Vista C&I Global (a subsidiary of Samsung C&T) officially signed a joint venture agreement to collaborate on rooftop solar energy development in Vietnam and support Vietnamese businesses in transitioning toward a low-carbon economy.

Through the partnership, CME-Vista would continue strengthening its position as a leading foreign direct investment (FDI) enterprise in pioneering advanced technologies and innovative solutions for the green transformation of Vietnam’s economy.
