The Ho Chi Minh City’s Management Authority for Urban Railways and Japanese contractor Hitachi conducted the trial run.
According to the design of the elevated section, the train can run at a maximum speed of 110km per hour, but the contractor only operates at a speed of less than 50km, to ensure safety when testing.
The first trial run was conducted on a journey of nearly 9km in December 2022, while the second trial run was implemented on 11km, on April 15.
The purpose of the test run is not only to test the train but also to test the electromechanical equipment systems at stations, signal information systems and other functions and items, according to Nguyen Trung Hieu, Deputy Director of Project Management Unit No.1, under the Ho Chi Minh City’s Management Authority for Urban Railways.
The whole metro line No.1, with a total length of 20km, is scheduled to begin a test run on September 2, to prepare for the official run by the end of this year.
The Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien metro line No.1 has reached 95% of its progress, after more than 10 years of construction.
