According to the local police, at least 49 people were killed. 40 bodies were recovered at the scene, 9 died in hospital and 22 survivors are receiving treatment in hospital after the crash at 2:15 pm local time.
The flight from the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, was operated by US-Bangla Airlines. The airport official said that the airport had been shut down and all other flights diverted.
