VTV.vn - Ba Ria-Vung Tau’s annual revenue from tourism remains modest considering its natural advantages and tourism potential.

To make the industry grow sustainably, Ba Ria-Vung Tau has been boosting regional links and promotion activities, connecting tourism clusters, and developing signature tourism products.

In recent years, Ba Ria-Vung Tau’s tourism has sustained its growth and contributed significantly to the province’s overall growth. The number of visitors has increased 13% a year, and revenues have risen nearly 16% a year. Tourism products have been steadily diversified.

But to fully tap its advantages and make tourism promotion activities more effective, the province has used IT to promote tourism products and has cooperated with other localities, foreign countries and international tourism organizations to increase the province’s visibility.

Trinh My Nghe, Deputy Chairwoman of the Hanoi Tourism Association, said “Local businesses can find their own market segmentation, because by cooperating with travel agencies and tourism businesses, Ba Ria-Vung Tau can customize products to tourists’ tastes and offer more opportunities to visitors from northern provinces.”

The province has linked tourism products and tourist clusters in the province to become a sea tourism city offering beach resorts, sports, night life, and trade-conference tourism.

The Long Hai-Phuoc Hai tourist cluster is expected to become a culture, sports and resort complex offering tours of relics and nature. The Dinh Mountain tourist cluster will be a resort and culture attraction with shopping centers.

The Binh Chau-Ho Linh tourist cluster will focus on high-end sports, golf courses, and eco-tourism.

Trinh Hang, Director of the provincial Tourism Department, said “We have outlined a comprehensive tourism development program until 2025 with a vision to 2030. Under the program, we define core tourism products of each locality.

The provincial Tourism Department will act as a coordinator for districts across the province, businesses, and individual business households to develop as many tourism products as possible. We will also focus on creating tours and a tourism program linking all the tourism products.”

The province has upgraded transportation infrastructure to connect potential tourism sites inside and outside the province and attract investment in tourism.

Ba Ria-Vung Tau has adopted policies to attract large investors to the tourism sector. Xuyen Moc district, for example, whose coastal road is considered a lifeline for local sea tourism development, has lured investors and businesses. More than 90 tourism projects have been licensed and 30 others are underway in the district.

Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Deputy Chairman of the Xuyen Moc district People’s Committee, said “The district’s top priority is to provide the best conditions and support land clearance to encourage investment in the locality. We will also closely follow the projects’ progress and will abandon ineffective projects.”
