Novruz is a very important holiday to Azerbaijani people, who celebrate the days of soil, water, fire, and wind — the four elements of life — on Tuesdays in March.
The event was attended by representatives of Vietnamese state agencies, ambassadors of several countries in Vietnam, representatives of the Vietnam-Azerbaijan Friendship Association, former Vietnamese students in Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijani people living in Hanoi.
In his opening address, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Vietnam Shovgi Mehdizada extended his best wishes on the occasion of Novruz, which he said is celebrated by Azerbaijani people around the world and shares many similarities with the Vietnamese people’s Tet holiday.
He noted that 2024 will mark the 65th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s visit to Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, which was significant in the establishment of the friendship between the people of the three countries.
At the event, the participants had a change to taste Azerbaijan’s delicious dishes and Novruz sweets and watch videos about the Novruz holiday, Azerbaijan’s tourism potential, and the country’s traditional costumes.
They were also treated to a signing programme with famous Azerbaijani and Vietnamese songs performed by Sevinj Orujova — an Azerbaijani singer living in Vietnam — and students of the Hanoi College of Commerce and Tourism.
