The Australian Department of Agriculture and Water Resources is currently considering the application for import permission of Vietnamese dragon fruits.
If Vietnamese dragon fruit production can meet the conditions set out by this agency, Vietnam will have another agricultural specialty present down-under.
The 2 governments are also working together to establish safe and sustainable production procedures for Vietnamese dragon fruits.
According to the Vietnamese trade mission in Australia, this strict market has considered importing dragon fruits since April 2016. Since then, Australian experts and officials have visited Vietnamese dragon fruit farms to conduct inspections.
