At the ceremony held in Hanoi, the Australian Embassy in Vietnam and the Ministry of Education and Training announced the second phase of the Aus4Skills programme (The Vietnam Australia Partnership for Human Resource Development Programme) in the 2021-2025 period worth AUD50.1 million.
Through the programme, the Australian Government will provide full Australian Award scholarships for Vietnamese citizens to study at Australian universities and sponsor projects conducted by Australian alumni to contribute to the development of Vietnam.
The programme will also support capacity building activities in the field of higher education for university leaders.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Phuc, deputy minister of Education and Training said that Vietnam and Australia continue to be strategic partners in the field of education and training, making important contributions to realising Vietnam’s economic and human resource development goals.
Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Robyn Mudie noted that the Aus4Skills programme, supported by the Australian Government, is still suitable to Vietnam's human resource development priorities, particularly that the programme has been adapted to overcome challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the Australian Embassy, more than 105,000 Vietnamese students have benefited from the improvement in teaching, curriculum development, and educational institution administration by the Aus4Skills programme in the 2016-2021 period.
