The VCCA was established pursuant to the Ministry of Home Affairs' decision dated June 12, 2017. It now has roughly 300 members who are working in food research, education and training, as well as in tourism and food processing. According to its plan for the 2018-2022 period, the VCCA will focus on research into Vietnam's traditional cuisines while spreading the image of Vietnamese food internationally through promotional programmes in foreign countries. The association also plans to hold a festival to feature Vietnam's culinary delights and build a Vietnam Cuisine Culture Museum.
