After 77 years, such words remain relevant today, reminding us of the responsibility to build a strong army of entrepreneurs and enterprises, as well as to protect and construct an independent, self-reliant and self-strengthening nation.
The image of modern entrepreneurs is not only the typical story of Vietnam’s economic reform and international integration but it also contains the nationalist spirit of the Vietnamese people. Today enterprises are not only seeking profits but also showing more responsibility towards the community and the environment.
The mindset of entrepreneurs has seen long steps forward as they are not only quick to adapt to the market but also become more resilient and proactive in the face of global challenges. Vietnamese entrepreneurs and businesses are working day and night to realise the aspiration of making Vietnamese brands shine in the international market. Vietnam now has entrepreneurs whose enterprises are ranked on the regional and global levels. A developmental state has enabled the strong growth of entrepreneurs and enterprises.
During the meetings with Party and State leaders, entrepreneurs proactively contributed many ideas and suggestions to help create an increasingly attractive business climate. They are also willing to invest in a number of key sectors and industrial projects related to the need for breakthrough development and national self-reliance. Many sectors which were previously exclusive to the state have now seen greater participation of the private sector and have seen their quality improve thanks to the mobilisation of large resources from enterprises.
For more than two years of being severely hit by COVID-19 along with natural disasters and global geo-political uncertainties, the Vietnamese business community had to face enormous difficulties and challenges. But, amid such hardships, entrepreneurs and their enterprises have chosen to accompany the Government in adjusting their production and business plans to meet COVID-19 prevention requirements, and then in the economic recovery programme to regain the growth momentum in the new normal period.
Working for the country and the community has become the DNA of enterprises and entrepreneurs. Sailing through big waves, all captains are well aware that their employees and their families are behind them, and further beyond is the development of each sector and the nation.
It can be affirmed that the right choice and the developments in the Party and State’s viewpoint on the socialist-oriented market economy, on enterprises and entrepreneurs are important agents in bringing about significant policy changes in the business environment, promoting the legitimate aspirations to get rich, which has led to major changes in business, entrepreneurship and social responsibility.
During a meeting with representatives of the business community in 2011, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong stated that, for the first time in history, the Communist Party of Vietnam had issued a resolution on promoting the role of Vietnamese entrepreneurs in the period of accelerating industrialisation, modernisation and international integration, which was promulgated by the Politburo on December 9, 2011.
It can be said that the Party and State’s attention and prompt and correct leadership are the prerequisites for Vietnam to develop a strong army of enterprises and entrepreneurs, with the visible maturity of enterprises playing a leading role in some key sectors of the economy and the boom in small and medium-sized enterprises.
On the occasion of Vietnamese Entrepreneurs’ Day 2022, we wish that the business community will grow even stronger and contribute to building a prosperous Vietnam with sustainable development.
