Matches of the tournament, which will last until June 17, will take place at Bac Ninh Gymnasium and the Bac Ninh University of Physical Education and Sports.
The host Vietnam is in Group A, together with defending champion China, Japan and Thailand.
Group B consists of the Republic of Korea, Chinese Taipei, Kazakhstan and India.
While Group C gathers Hong Kong and Macao of China, Australia and Iran, Group D will see the competition of Malaysia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka.
This is the first time the Volleyball Federation of Vietnam has hosted an Asian Women’s U19 Volleyball Championship.
Le Tri Truong, Secretary General of the Volleyball Federation of Vietnam, said this year’s event attracted big rivals of Vietnam like China, the Republic of Korea, Japan and Thailand.
To enter the group of the six best-performing teams of the tourney, the Vietnamese team summoned talents of clubs nationwide such as Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, Dang Thu Huyen, Tran Thi Bich Thuy and Bui Thi Bich Phuong.
In the first match after the opening ceremony, Vietnam lost 1-3 to Thailand.
At the previous championship in 2016 in Thailand, China finished first, followed by Japan, Thailand and Vietnam.
