The ASEAN Quality Assurance Forum (ASEAN QA 2019), hosted by a Vietnamese higher education institution for the first time ever, opened at the Foreign Trade University on Thursday morning, with the attendance of over 250 delegates from more than 150 higher education institutions of 15 countries in the region and around the world.
Under the theme "Networking for building and sustaining quality culture in higher education institutions,” the forum marks the first time a higher education institution in Vietnam has been selected to host an important international event in the field of quality assurance.
It is part of the activities under the ASEAN-QA Project established in 2011 to improve the capacity of staff working in the quality assurance sector of higher education institutions.
During the two-day event, delegates will focus on exchanging and discussing issues related to the role of the Quality Assurance Network in the context of changing and improving higher education in ASEAN.
They will also focus on ensuring the participation of learners in getting a higher level of education quality in the region, as well as digitisation in higher education and its impact on quality assurance.
In addition, the parallel sessions also discuss key issues in the field, including the sustainability and quality of quality assurance system and its development, the integrated development and quality assurance system, tools for assessing and using data in quality assurance and applying regional quality assurance principles into practice.
Participants are expected to propose solutions to link higher education institutions with stakeholders, as well as contributing to the process of building trust among individuals and organisations in promoting higher education quality assurance.
