To prepare for it, An Giang is accelerating work on key infrastructure projects across the island. The APEC Convention Centre's main structure is 98 percent complete and its steel structure is around 94 percent complete.
More than 3,000 workers have been mobilized, and the work is expected to finish by March 2027. This year, the province has allocated 531 million U.S. dollars from public funds for APEC-related projects.
Of more than 20 projects underway, seven are progressing well, 10 are behind schedule due to land acquisition and infrastructure relocation, and another seven face shortages of construction materials and forest land issues. Local authorities are working to remove these bottlenecks and keep preparations on track for APEC 2027.
