More than 100,000 people engaged in fifteen programmes and activities during the two-week festival.
Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen affirmed that the sixth festival was a success. During the event, nearly 5,000 sets of ao dai and fabric to make ao dai were presented to female labourers in the city, he added.
Besides, ao dai competitions attracted the participation of more than 2,600 Vietnamese and foreign contestants living in the city.
Tuyen voiced his hope that the Ao Dai Festival will become a tourism draw for the southern economic hub.
The 2019 Ao Dai Festival took place across various tourist spots of the city, such as Bui Vien and Nguyen Hue pedestrian zones, the city's post office, the War Remnants Museum, the Ao Dai Museum, and several public places.
Organized for the sixth time, the City Ao Dai Festival HCM has become a cultural tourism product of the city.
