On January 7, at the headquarters of Vietnam Television (VTV), the Department of Science, Education, and Specialized Programs (VTV) held a mid-term review of the television program Anti-Fraud - Protecting Consumers at the headquarters of Vietnam Television (VTV). The event was attended by representatives of the National Steering Committee 389, leaders of central ministries and agencies, law-enforcement bodies, associations, partner enterprises, and representatives of press and media organizations.
Anti-Fraud - Protecting Consumers has been broadcast regularly on VTV1 and disseminated across VTV’s digital ecosystem. The program has gradually established itself as a reliable source of information, helping consumers identify acts of commercial fraud, counterfeit and fake goods, and market risks through visual, accessible storytelling.
After six months, the program’s digital content has reached more than 115 million views and 2.3 million interactions, with over 22 million views on TikTok alone. Many topics have resonated strongly with the public, such as reports on diseased pork (over 8 million views) and counterfeit roofing steel and construction materials (around 1.5 million views). Notably, in addition to VTV platforms and partner channels, some content shared by community and local pages reached 6-7 million views, demonstrating strong public interest and the program’s powerful potential for broader dissemination.

At the meeting, the Organizing Committee recognized the Department of Science, Education, and Specialized Programs. Two reporters who were directly involved in producing the program were awarded Certificates of Merit from the National Steering Committee 389 for their positive contributions to communication efforts and their close coordination with authorities in combating commercial fraud. Looking ahead, Anti-Fraud - Protecting Consumers will continue regular broadcasting, expand the use of real-world market data, strengthen inter-agency coordination, and further leverage digital platforms more effectively to reach local communities and younger audiences .

According to representatives of the National Steering Committee 389, efforts to combat smuggling, commercial fraud, and counterfeit goods have achieved significant results after more than six months of implementing the Prime Minister’s Directive 13, under the principle of “no forbidden zones, no exceptions”. From June 15 to November 30, 2025, functional forces handled nearly 58,000 violations, collected almost VND 6.3 trillion for the state budget, initiated 771 criminal cases involving 1,587 suspects, and dismantled many large-scale networks.

Major General Do Ngoc Canh, Director of the Department of Drug and Crime Prevention, Vietnam Border Guard, stated that smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods along border routes continue to evolve in complex ways, involving a wide range of commodities and increasingly sophisticated methods. These activities pose direct threats to economic security and public health. In 2025 alone, the Vietnam Border Guard uncovered and seized a massive volume of contraband, including 2,477 kilograms of various narcotics; nearly 40 kilograms of gold; more than 300,000 Chinese yuan and 80,000 U.S. dollars; hundreds of thousands of packs of cigarettes; over 40,000 kilograms of frozen livestock and poultry products; tens of thousands of breeding animals and poultry eggs, and numerous consumer goods, fuels, minerals, and wildlife products.
