The delegation was received by Deputy Secretary of Son La provincial Party’s Committee cum Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Hoang Quoc Khanh along with other provincial leaders.
Khanh expressed his delight in receiving the ambassadors from Nordic countries and informed them of the local socio-economic development situation as well as the potentials and strengths of the province.
Son La province has strengths in high-tech agriculture, tourism and energy development, Khanh said. The province reported total export revenue of agricultural products of US$142 million in 2019. It also has two border gates, Long Sap and Chieng Khuong, to connect with northern provinces in Laos.
Addressing the meeting, the ambassadors of the Nordic countries informed the host of cooperation programmes between Nordic countries and Vietnam over the past years. The delegation wished to learn about development orientations of Son La province, particularly in tourism, education, green agricultural development, clean energy and waste treatment, towards developing cooperation plans in the future.
Khanh thanked Nordic countries for providing many support programmes for Son La, including ODA capital, waste treatment, television technology and others.
The provincial leader expressed his wish to continue receiving assistance from the Nordic countries in the future.
