Accordingly, the planning scope will cover the entire natural area of Van Don district with more than 2,171 sq.km; of which, the natural land area is nearly 582 sq.km and the sea area is 1,589.5 sq.km.
Van Don is planned to be a multi-sector, multi-field marine economic zone. It is targeting becoming a green, smart and modern island urban area with a focus on logistics, high-end tourism and modern entertainment. It will have a casino and a centre for start-ups and international trade.
The total population is expected to reach 140,000-200,000 by 2030 and 300,000-500,000 by 2040.
