The number of enterprises operating in agriculture, forestry and fishery has increased from 3,500 enterprises in 2012 to nearly 8,700 enterprises in 2018.
The country has converted more than 200,000 hectares of inefficient rice crops to plant more suitable crops with higher economic value. As a result, the average household income in rural areas has nearly doubled, from about 3 thousand USD in 2012 to over 5 thousand USD in 2017. Meanwhile, the poverty rate in rural areas has dropped from 14.1% to 8%.
