On the afternoon of August 25, VTV and the People's Committee of Quang Ninh Province co- hosted the Asia-Pacific Robot Contest (ABU Robocon) 2024 at the Quang Ninh Sports Complex.
Present at the event were: Mr. Le Thanh Long, a Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Le Ngoc Quang, a Member of the Party Central Committee and General Director of Vietnam Television; and Mr. Ahmed Nadeem, Secretary-General of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU).
From Quang Ninh Province, the event was attended by: Mr. Cao Tuong Huy, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Ms. Vi Ngoc Bich, Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council; Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee; and Mr. Nghiem Xuan Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Dinh Dac Vinh, Deputy General Director of VTV and Head of the ABU Robocon 2024 Organizing Committee, noted that this is the fourth time that V TV has been chosen by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) to host the ABU Robocon competition, which has played an important role in promoting exchanges and cooperation among members.
"In successfully hostingABU Robocon 2024, VTV is especially grateful to the Provincial Party Committee, the People's Committee, and the departments, agencies, and people of Quang Ninh Province for providing the best conditions with the highest level of professionalism in organizing the event, playing a crucial role in its success. The competition results are the awards and the strengthened international relationships and friendships between students from different countries and regions. The competition has helped us better understand the importance of international cooperation in technology and has created new opportunities for us to grow together", emphasized Mr. Dinh Dac Vinh.

Mr. Cao Tuong Huy, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, welcomes the ABU Robocon 2024 event held in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province.
ABU Robocon 2024 brought together13 teams from 12 countries and regions across Asia and the Pacific. The theme of ABU Robocon 2024, "Harvest Festival," aimed to celebrate the value of agriculture, particularly rice cultivation in terraced fields—a distinctive feature of Vietnamese culture. The participating robots had to perform tasks simulating the rice farming process, from sowing seedlings to harvesting and transporting the rice to storage, with the message that efficient farming bringsprosperity to all.

The 13 teams from 12 countries and regions, including Vietnam (2 teams), Cambodia, China, Egypt, Hong Kong (China), India, Indonesia, Mongolia, Malaysia, Japan, Thailand, and Nepal, competed in an exciting atmosphere.
Competing against teams from 12 countries and regions the team from Hong Kong (China) won the ABU Robocon 2024 championship 2024 with a convincing performance, strategic thinking and strong competitive skills. This is the third time the Hong Kong (China) team has won the ABU Robocon championship title since 2002.
The Organizing Committee awarded first prize to the team from Hong Kong (China), second prize to Vietnam 1, and two third prizes to Vietnam 2 and Japan.
Sharing his thoughts after the competition, Pham The Duyet (from Vietnam 1) said, "We are very proud to represent Vietnam in the final round. Although we did not get the highest score, we gained a lot of valuable experience. Participating in the competition and going through each round allowed us to facereal challenges, familiarize ourselves with the pressure of results and time, develop discipline, a sense of responsibility, teamwork skills, communication skills, and more. Most importantly, ABU Robocon 2024 has brought together young technology enthusiasts from different countries to share different emotions, and we all feel that we have grown by overcoming these challenges."
