Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam – General Director of Vietnam Television (VTV), Chairman of the 42nd National Television Festival – delivers a speech at the Opening Ceremony.

In his speech, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam noted that this year’s festival coincides with major national anniversaries: the 50th  year of the liberation of Southern Vietnam, the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh, the 80th year of the August Revolution and National Day, and the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day. For the broadcasting industry, it also marks 55 years since the first television broadcast in Vietnam (7/9/1970 – 7/9/2025).

Especially, this is also a time when the entire country is living through "unforgettable days", as the entire political system is actively carrying out an unprecedented reform to streamline the political apparatus, under the leadership of the Party Central Committee led by General Secretary To Lam. The goal is to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and performance of operations to meet the demands and missions of the nation in a new era — an era of strong, prosperous development for the Vietnamese people. Press agencies, including television and radio broadcasters, are now facing numerous challenges and opportunities to reorganize their structures. They are not only proactively merging and streamlining but also striving to fulfill their political missions — standing at the forefront of communication, unifying public perception, and generating new momentum, new opportunities, and new room for growth.

"Change and reform have never been easy — in fact, they may even present us with many difficulties and challenges, along with personal concerns and aspirations. But only if we dare to break out of old limits, boldly step out of our comfort zone, can we rise to shape the future and reach greater achievements. This noble new mission will give us a renewed spiritual strength to fulfill every task, worthy of the trust placed in us by the Party, the State, and the People", said Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam.

With 734 entries from 100 participating units, this year's National Television Festival continues to confirm its unique appeal. The highlight of the festival lies in the judging and awarding of outstanding works across 11 categories, including: Children's Program, Documentary, Reportage, Short Reportage, Educational Program, Dialogue – Talk Show, Ethnic Minority Language TV Program, Music and Dance Performance, Stage Performance, TV Drama, and Digital Platform Video.
