VTV.vn - 7% of the Vietnamese population are people with disabilities, according to a recent report released by the Vietnam General Statistics Office and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Vietnam.

The survey showed that 13% of the population or nearly 12 million people live in households that have people with disabilities. Households with people with disabilities are often poor. And children with disabilities are at risk of dropping out of school.

Job opportunities for people with disabilities are also lower than those for non-disabled people. The most common type of disability among children is related to social psychology, which is a major barrier to their social integration. These figures come from a large-scale survey that was conducted for 2 years, from 2016 to 2017, for the first time using international standards to collect comprehensive information about the lives of people with disabilities in Vietnam.
