The National Television Festival will be held for the first time in the central province of Quang Binh from December 16 to 19.
This year, some 100-television production units with over 400 works will compete in nine categories, including children's programs, documentaries, reportage, science and educational programs, talk show-dialogues-discussions, ethnic language programs, music shows and television film series.
The 35th edition of the festival this year coincides with the 45th anniversary of the Viet Nam National Television (VTV), which is hosting the event.
"About 100 TV stations, including 20 non-state owned studios, will attend the festival, with the first presentation by newly launched Nhan Dan (People) Television," deputy chairman of the festival Nguyen Ha Nam said at a press conference recently held at the VTV headquarters in Ha Noi..
The TV production units, with about 500 programmes, will compete in nine categories, such as children's programmes, documentaries, reportage, science and educational programmes, as well as talk shows, dialogues and discussions, ethnic language programmes, music shows, and TV dramas.
The annual event aims to honour TV producers and outstanding programmes that have provided insight into the daily lives of the people of the country.
The festival's nine-member jury will award gold and silver medals, along with certificates, to the best programmes and producers.
Two seminars will be held on December 17, which will focus on interactions and sport programme production.
"Sport programmes are attracting viewers. TV producers will discuss how to improve the quality of the programmes," Nam said.
A forum on TV broadcasting in islands and seas will be held on December 18, with the participation of historians, islands and seas TV programmes producers and fishermen.
The festival also offers a chance to provincial audiences to meet and interact with producers from every part of the country. The meet will be held on December 17.
The opening ceremony will showcase typical central provinces' folk songs.
The ceremony will be aired live on VTV 1 and Quang Binh Television at 8pm on December 16.
