VTV.vn - Vietnam's relevant agencies and representative offices in India on May 19-20 coordinated with their Indian counterparts to bring home nearly 340 Vietnamese citizens.

Passengers on a Vietnam Airlines flight included children, the elderly, people with illnesses, pregnant women, students without accommodation due to school closures, stranded tourists, Buddhist monks and nuns attending training courses, as well as those with expired labour contracts.

As India is applying a nationwide lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID-19, it is difficult to operate such flights.

The Vietnamese Embassy in New Delhi and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Mumbai guided the citizens on all the necessary procedures, while actively working with the host’s authorised agencies to bring them home.

Passengers and crew members were quarantined upon arrival in the Can Tho international airport.
