In the first half of 2025, according to AppMagic, Vietnamese studios achieved over 42 million downloads, making up nearly 25% of all puzzle game downloads in Western Europe. In the competitive U.S. market, Vietnamese titles consistently ranked in the monthly top 10 for downloads.
Vietnam Game Connect 2025 Brings Together Leaders Behind Billions of Downloads
According to Google, Vietnam has surpassed mobile gaming powerhouses like China, the U.S., and Turkey, with 6.7 billion downloads—700 million more than China.
Titles such as Wood Nuts and Bolts by ABI and Screwdom by iKame have each reached hundreds of millions of downloads. Screwdom alone records 100 minutes of daily playtime, outpacing industry giants like Candy Crush (66 minutes) and Royal Match (88 minutes). These results show Vietnam’s mobile games are approaching world-class standards.
“These figures prove Vietnam’s mobile games are approaching world-class standards,” said Ms. Jennifer Vu, CEO of GameGeek. “But achieving lasting global success will require sustained investment in talent and deeper, more engaging content."
Despite strong download numbers, industry experts note several structural challenges: Limited gameplay depth leads to weaker long-term player retention; Many studios work in isolation, missing opportunities to share knowledge or avoid repeated mistakes; A skills and experience gap exists between emerging teams and established market leaders.
"These are not issues any single studio can solve alone," Jennifer Vu added. "We need a connected ecosystem where developers share resources and opportunities."
GameGeek – A Central Hub With 10 Years Alongside Vietnam’s Game Community
In July, GameGeek organized Vietnam Game Connect (VGC) – an industry networking event that welcomed over 700 participants, including more than 110 senior representatives from major game markets like the U.S., China, South Korea, and Turkey. For the first time, young studios had the chance to learn directly from the nearly decade-long experience of Vietnam’s leading evelopers like iKame and ABI, and to connect with international studios behind billions of downloads such as King, Rollic, and Supercent.
The CEO of Mobidictum (Turkey) met with a manager from Azur Games during the event.
Reflecting on the experience, Giang Nguyen, CEO of Gamee, shared: "After the event, we gained valuable connections and are now working to turn them into specific partnerships that create real value for our organization."
With major players like TikTok and Amazon investing in Vietnam’s game ecosystem, industry analysts believe the country is emerging as a global gaming hotspot. International studios are not only seeking partnerships but also establishing local offices and hiring Vietnamese talent.
Ms. Jennifer Vu explained, "Our vision is to see Vietnamese studios create titles that stand alongside the likes of Candy Crush. The talent and creativity are here—what’s needed is continued collaboration, skills development, and strategic global integration."
As Vietnam’s gaming industry accelerates, 2025 could mark the start of its transformation from a fast-growing player to a global market leader.
