VTV.vn - The 17th Vietnam Poetry Day officially opened on February 17 in Hanoi, featuring a wide range of activities. The events attracted the participation of nearly 200 writers, poets, and translators from 46 countries worldwide.

Within the framework of the event, a number of exchanges between Vietnamese poetry lovers and foreign poets, as well as exhibitions on the lives and careers of great poets have been organized. Since its debut on Nguyen Tieu (the 15 th day of the first lunar month) in 2003, Vietnam Poetry Day, the biggest poetry festival in the country, has become a national tradition, taking place every year during spring.

Starting out as an initiative of the Vietnam Writers’ Association, Poetry Day has been organized in many provinces and cities to celebrate poetry, which has been an integral part of Vietnamese culture for thousands of years.
