12.7m USD spent on drought and saltwater intrusion damage control

The funds will be sourced from the budget reserves. This money will be used to minimise the damage caused by severe weather conditions. The level of funding will depend on the damage suffered by each locality. The provinces receiving the most funding are Thanh Hoa, Quang Binh and Nghe An. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is also proposing a project to revive several plant species for post-drought production.
